Person Found Dead In East River, Initially Spotted Near 81st Street
Emergency services responded to a call on Friday morning about a person in the water near East 81st Street.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY – At approximately 10:50 a.m. today, emergency services received a call reporting a person in the East River near East 81st Street, an FDNY spokesperson told Patch.
One individual was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FDNY.
An NYPD spokesperson told Patch that a woman was removed from the East River near East 23rd Street on Friday, where she was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, there are no arrests, police said, and an investigation is ongoing. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine cause of death, and the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
Officials could not verify whether or not these reports concern the same individual. But, "water moves pretty fast," one said.
