UES Woman Stabs Roommate During Drunk Fight: Reports, Prosecutors

The 27-year-old woman is accused of stabbing her roommate at least six times.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An Upper East Side woman is facing attempted murder charges for stabbing her roommate during a drunken fight over an alcoholic beverage, according to prosecutors and reports.

Daria Alyabyeva, 27, was charged Wednesday with second-degree attempted murder, and first-degree assault for attacking her roommate on the night of April 19 inside their East 86th Street apartment, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Manhattan District Attorney. Alyabyeva is accused of stabbing her roommate in the abdomen, hip, side, shoulder, face and hands, according to the complaint.

The roommate — who was not identified — begged Alyabyeva to call an ambulance after the attack, prompting Alyabyeva to say: "Die, b----, die," NYPD detectives told prosecutors. Alyabyeva was arrested Tuesday, nine days after the attack, prosecutors said.

Alyabyeva's roommate survived the attack and required emergency surgery to treat stab wounds to her abdomen, according to a criminal complaint. Doctors also stitched up wounds suffered throughout the rest of her body, including a three-inch laceration on the woman's face, according to the complaint.

The fight between roommates was allegedly sparked by a dispute over Alyabyeva's drinking, the New York Daily News first reported. During the argument, Alyabyeva's roommate grabbed her drink and threw it in the sink, shattering a glass and sending Alyabyeva into a rage, according to the report.
