15 Upper Manhattan Community Orgs Will Get Honored In Ceremony

The uptown organizations that will be recognized include Holy Rood Church, the Inwood Council on Aging, and CLOTH.

UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — Senator Robert Jackson will host a ceremony Thursday to honor 15 Upper Manhattan community organizations for their "unwavering commitment to serving the communities of District 31 throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and present."

The celebration will take place at the popular Buunni Inwood Cafe at 4961 Broadway at 3:30 p.m.

"The significant contributions made by these organizations to our working-class community and their continued commitment to delivering needed resources have been exemplary and worthy of this recognition from the State of New York," Jackson said in a news release.

The organizations are all part of the State Senate 31 District, which includes the majority of Washington Heights and Inwood, as well as other chunks of the west side of Manhattan.

Jackson handily fended off Democratic challenger Angel Vasquez in the August primary, clearing the way for what is expected to be an easy victory in the November election.
