WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY - The 191 Street entrance to the 1 train in Washington Heights is scheduled to close this week while local artists beautify the corridor.

The tunnel will be closed to pedestrian traffic for cleaning, priming and painting from Thursday at 12:01 a.m. to Saturday at 7 p.m., the New York City Department of Transportation said.

Artists Vicky Azcoitia, Daniel Bonilla, Denise Coke, Rasheeda Johnson and Carla Torres are set to work with community volunteers to beautify the walkway to and from the 1 train.
