64-Year-Old Woman Shot In The Head And Killed In Inwood: Police
The woman was walking with her son to pick up groceries in the Upper Manhattan neighborhood, the Daily News reported.

INWOOD, NY — A woman in her sixties was shot and killed in broad daylight while walking to a supermarket with her son in Inwood on Monday, police said and multiple publications reported.
Valeria Ortega, 64, was walking near Dyckman Street and Vermilyea Avenue about 11:30 a.m., when she was shot in the head by a stray bullet, police said.
The Inwood resident was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Ortega was not the intended target of the bullets, police said.
She was walking to a supermarket with her son to shop for her family, when she was struck by the shooter, police told the New York Daily News.

“All she was about was her family,” a man said to the Daily News, who did not want to be named. “She took care of her sick mother who’s on oxygen. The lady on the fourth floor, she’s blind, she took care of her, too. The lady isn’t even related to her.”
There has not been an arrest.
