99-Year-Old Robbed Of $20K At Gunpoint In Manhattan, Police Say

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A 99-year-old man was hospitalized with broken fingers after a man robbed him at gunpoint for $20,000 in Washington Heights, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the 99-year-old was standing at the entrance gate for an apartment building near West 187th Street and Audubon Avenue on Monday at 10 a.m. when a man in a hoodie and a ski mask pushed his way into the building.

Once inside the building, the perpetrator placed a gun to the man's throat and ordered the victim to take him to an office where he removed approximately $20,000, police said.

Then, the perpetrator ran away with the money, police said.

Following the robbery, medics rushed the victim to New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center with two broken fingers and a cut on his hand, police said.

According to the New York Daily News, the victim suffered a stroke the following day due to stress from the robbery, and returned to the hospital.

No arrests have been made yet, and the police are searching for a suspect who was last seen wearing a black ski mask, black gloves, gray sweatshirt, black sweatpants and white sneakers.
