Another Person Charged With Murder In Inwood Nightclub Shooting: NYPD

INWOOD, NY — A third person has been charged with murder after a deadly nightclub shooting last year in Inwood, police said Sunday.

Washington Heights resident Ryell Rainey, 20, was recently arrested and charged with murder and robbery, authorities said.

The charges stem from a shooting on Sept. 20, 2021, where officers arrived at the front of Opus Lounge at 3775 Tenth Ave. to find two men with gunshot wounds, police said.

A 42-year-old man had been hit in the chest with a bullet, and a 35-year-old man had been shot in the right arm, police said.

Medics rushed both men to the hospital, where the 42-year-man was pronounced dead, police said.

Rainey's arrest comes two weeks after a 16-year-old was also charged with murder, two counts of robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, and assault, in connection to the shooting, police said.

It was the second teenage arrest in the case, as Washington Heights resident Damian Suarez, 19, was also previously arrested and charged with murder and robbery in connection to the Inwood shooting.
