Fire Breaks Out In Washington Heights Residential Building: FDNY
Firefighters battled flames for roughly 30 minutes at a six-story Washington Heights building on Tuesday morning, FDNY said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Flames ignited Tuesday morning in a six-story residential building in Washington Heights, an FDNY spokesperson told Patch.
The fire took place on the sixth floor of a six-story building at 1989 Amsterdam Ave. about 9:54 a.m., FDNY said.
Firefighters were able to put out the flames by 10:20 a.m. without any injuries, the spokesperson said.

Since the fire took place on the top floor, dangerous smoke was contained to the top floor.
The building between West 158th and 159th streets has three storefronts on the bottom of it, including Romana Electronics, a beauty salon, and a shuttered business.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
