WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Firefighters rushed to the building of a popular Washington Heights restaurant to battle flames that erupted just after noon on Thursday, officials said.

The blaze ignited in the duct works of the building slightly after noon at 821 W. 181st St., FDNY said.

The Uptown Garrison, a popular upscale eatery, is the first-floor tenant of the address, but the FDNY did not specify if that's where the blaze began.

The spokesperson added that nobody was injured in the fire.

The Uptown Garrison did not answer multiple calls from Patch, as its phone has continued to return a busy signal.

Upper Manhattan resident Megan Bartley also said traffic was stopped at Fort Washington and West 181st Street as firefighters fought the blaze.
