Michael Gomez, 23, was arrested Friday and charged with murder in connection to the June 8 killing of Charles Reynoso, police said. Reynoso, a Bed-Stuy resident, was shot in the head during a gunpoint robbery, police said.

Police believe that Reynoso was shot during an attempted robbery and that he may have tried to fight off his robber. The Brooklyn man's aunt told the Daily News that it was going to be his birthday the weekend after the shooting, and that he had dreams of opening a day care center.
Reynoso's murder is the third recorded homicide in the NYPD's 33rd precinct this year, according to crime statistics. The precinct covers most of the Washington Heights neighborhood from West 155th Street to West 179th Street. There were zero murders in the precinct at this time in 2018, according to the statistics, where were recorded as of June 2. In the entire year of 2018 there was only one murder in the precinct, which means the precinct has already tripled last year's total in just the first half of 2019.
