Inwood CTown Expands Into Former Rite Aid Store
The grocery store is slated to nearly double in size once it expands into the former pharmacy space on Broadway.

INWOOD, NY - Inwood-area grocery shoppers, rejoice.
The CTown Supermarkets location at 4918 Broadway is slated to nearly double in size after it expands into the former Rite Aid location next door.
Signs for the expansion went up this month and construction just began, a store representative told Patch. CTown plans to expand its departments into the former pharmacy, though a representative wasn’t able to verify which departments would be growing.

The CTown store remains open during construction. Operating hours are 7 a.m. to midnight daily.
The Rite Aid closed on Jan. 31, Patch previously reported; at the time, management reported a “variety” of reasons for the closing.

The chain shuttered nearly 150 stores in 2022 that weren't considered profitable.
Struggling under slumping sales and heavy debt from opioid-related litigation, the Rite Aid drugstore chain said in October it was accelerating the closure of some underperforming drugstores while it restructures under Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In all, 154 locations were affected. A month later, Rite Aid said it was closing 31 more stores. In all, 185 locations were affected.
