Inwood Resident Arrested And Charged With Murder In Fatal Shooting: PD

INWOOD, NY — A 21-year-old Inwood resident was arrested and charged with murder Wednesday relating to a fatal shooting that happened last year in the neighborhood, police said.

Blake Martinez, 22, who lives near West 203rd Street, was also charged Wednesday with robbery, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to a shooting that happened on Dec. 17, 2021, in Inwood, police said.

On the deadly night, two men got shot outside of 690 Academy St., one was hit in the arm and survived, but Rainier Rodriguez, 29, was shot in the head and killed, police said.

Martinez is now the fourth person to be arrested in connection to the uptown shooting.

David Collazo, 24, Luis Rodriguez, 28, and Jeremy Lopez, 21, have also all been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the shooting.

The three other arrested men are all Bronx residents, according to the NYPD.
