Man Fends Off Attempted Knifepoint Robbers On Dyckman Street: NYPD

A man was able to wrestle a knife away from two people who attempted to rob him Wednesday morning on Dyckman Street, police said.

DYCKMAN, NY — A person was dragged across the floor as he did his best to fight off an attempted knifepoint robbery Wednesday morning on Dyckman Street, a police spokesperson told Patch.

The 58-year-old man was walking to work around 6 a.m. when two people walked up to him at 270 Dyckman St. and tried to take his money, police said.

One of the robbers took a knife out, but the man was able to wrestle the weapon out of their hands, according to police.

The 58-year-old was then pushed to the ground and dragged across the floor, suffering a scrape, police added.

The two robbers then fled toward Seaman Avenue, police said. In the end, the duo wasn't able to take anything from the man, police said.

It's unclear at this time whether the attempted robbery happened outside of 270 Dyckman St. or within the address, which is a parking garage.

Police are looking for the two men and there is currently no description.
