Man Hit In The Head With Tire Iron And Robbed In Wash Heights: NYPD

Attackers jumped a 43-year-old man for no apparent reason as he left a store at 1640 Saint Nicholas Ave., near 192nd Street, NYPD said.

UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — A trio of attackers jumped a man with a tire iron for no apparent reason as he exited a store in Washington Heights, police said on Wednesday.

A 43-year-old man had just walked out of a store around 9:05 p.m. at 1640 Saint Nicholas Ave. (near West 192nd Street) on Oct. 2, when three men walked up to him and began attacking him, police said.

One of the attackers struck the man in the head with a tire iron, as the two other men threw punches and kicks, police said.

The man under attack tried to flee, but the trio grabbed his bike and backpack, police said.

The backpack had a speaker, a bike lock, a debit card, and IDs, police said.

The 43-year-old was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, police said.

One of the suspected attackers has already been arrested and charged in connection to the incident, but police are still looking for the other two men.
