Man Shot In The Chest And Killed Outside Of Inwood Deli: Police

Multiple publications are reporting that the Inwood resident was shot Thursday in front of his daughter.

INWOOD, NY — An uptown resident was shot and killed in Inwood on Thursday while he was with his nine-year-old daughter, NYPD officials said and multiple publications reported, including PIX11.

Tykeem Berry, 30, was shot in the chest outside an Inwood deli at 144 Nagle Ave. about 4 p.m. after an argument broke out with another man, police said and multiple publications reported.

Berry, an Inwood resident, got rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The gunman fled and there have been no arrests, police said.

Berry's young daughter wasn't injured in the gunfire, reported ABC7.

"I don't want the children to see her father get killed," the deli's owner told ABC7. "It can affect her in the future. She can have problems. So, we kept her inside. We gave her soda, we gave her whatever she wants. We talked to her."

The investigation remains ongoing.
