Man Stabbed On 1 Train In Washington Heights: Police

A man was stabbed on the 1 train in Washington Heights on Thursday night, the NYPD confirmed.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY – A 39-year-old man was stabbed on a 1 train on Wednesday night, police said.

At about 11:15 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a stabbing at the 191 Street 1 train station in Washington Heights, officials said, where they found a man with a stab wound to his chest and a slash wound to his arm.

The stabbing occurred on the train, police confirmed.

The victim was transported to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, police said.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing. There were no updates as of 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

The 191 Street station is cavernous – the deepest in the subway system – and contains a large tunnel. It’s located near 191st Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in Washington Heights.

According to PIX11, the victim was sitting on the train when another man approached him. The man reportedly “yelled and screamed” at the victim before stabbing him, and remained on the train afterward.

PIX11 described the assailant as wearing a red hat, black shirt, and carrying a red duffle bag. He reportedly appeared to be in his 30s.
