Movie Trailer Drops About A Real Beer Run From Inwood To Vietnam
Aptly titled "The Greatest Beer Run Ever," Zac Efron plays a local from Inwood who takes beer to his buddies serving in the Vietnam War.

INWOOD, NY — The uptown beer run story has all the ingredients for greatness. A small bar, a seemingly ridiculous idea, the Vietnam War, and a few guys from Inwood.
What makes it even better? It's all true.
A trailer came out Wednesday for "The Greatest Beer Run Ever," which tells the story of Inwood native John "Chick" Donohue.

Donohue was sitting in a now long-shuttered Inwood Irish bar called Doc Fiddler's in 1967, which would later become The Red Barrel.
Donohue, an ex-Marine, was at the bar discussing the nearly 30 men the neighborhood already had lost in the Vietnam War, as well as the nonstop anti-war protests going on in Manhattan.

The bartender exclaimed that it was time to show support to the Inwood guys still overseas, adding that it would be a good idea to bring the boys some beer.
Donohue jumped at the idea. Incredibly, he followed through on it.
Here's the trailer.
During the eight-week trip, Donohue ended up successfully delivering beers to Inwood natives Tommy Collins, Kevin McLoone, Rick Duggan and his best friend Bobby Pappas.
The trip involved hitchhiking, motorcycles, and helicopters.
Donohue told his story to the world in 2020, when he published a book with the same title.
The cast for the upcoming movie is star studded, with Efron, Russell Crowe, Bill Murray, Will Ropp, Archie Renaux, Kyle Allen, and Ruby Ashbourne all landing parts.
