UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — The old Duke Ellington song tells New Yorkers to "take the A train" uptown, but the MTA is going to make that difficult in November.

A train service between the Columbus Circle-59th Street and 207th Street stations will be suspended on weekdays from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on three consecutive weeks in November. The suspensions will take effect from Nov 4. to Nov. 8, Nov. 11 to No.v 15 and Nov. 18 to Nov. 22, according to the MTA.

The suspensions are part of the MTA's "FASTTRACK" repair schedule that allows the agency to conduct work at a more rapid pace by shutting down train tunnels. A similar project took place in May 2018.

Workers will complete tasks such as replacing of track, third rail, electrical and signal components, debris removal, repairing tunnel infrastructure, painting, platform work and repairing signage, lighting fixtures and ADA components, the MTA announced.

Uptown A train riders are being encouraged to use the 1 train as an alternate during the repairs. Free shuttle buses will also run at some A train stations to take passengers to the 1 train.
