NYC Chili Bowl Returns To Inwood This Weekend: What To Know

Prepare your taste buds for a good cause! The Eighth Annual NYC Chili Bowl is set for the Good Shepherd School in Inwood.

INWOOD, NY - Come hungry and bring your largest pots for Inwood’s annual NYC Chili Bowl, featuring over two dozen chili makers, refreshments, craft beer, sweets and more.

Now in its eighth year, the premiere uptown chili contest will take place Saturday, Nov. 18 from noon to 2:30 p.m. at The Good Shepherd School (620 Isham St.) inside the auditorium.

Participants will be able to taste 25+ chili makers’ recipes from around the city and vote for the contest’s top slop.

The fundraising event supports the Cabrini Immigrant Services Food Pantry at Church of the Good Shepherd, which feeds over 4,000 people a month. Alongside weekly free food, the pantry also provides scholarship funds, and legal and social services.

"Come meet your neighbors, have fun, eat really good Chili, and vote for your favorite," organizer Thomas Bosco said in a statement. "And, most importantly, support this awesome fundraiser for our neighbors who need assistance."

The NYC Chili Bowl was started by a group of local uptown neighbors that "wanted to do something to be of service, have fun and bring the community together," Bosco told Patch last year.

There are generally four sets of winners announced each year: People's Choice, Best Vegetarian/Vegan, Judge's Choice, and Best Team Spirit.

Admission is $15; children under 10 years old can attend for $5. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door.
