Pregnant Woman Shot In Washington Heights: Officials

A 19-year-old woman was shot Monday night while sitting in a car near West 165th Street, police said. She is expected to survive.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A pregnant woman was shot while sitting in a parked car in Washington Heights Monday night, officials said.

The 19-year-old woman was shot in the leg in front of a Wendy's at West 165th Street and Broadway about 9:25 p.m., police said.

There were five suspects who fled the scene in a car, but it is unclear if the woman was the intended target, police said and multiple publications reported.

An NYPD spokesperson told Patch it is unclear what the dispute was that led to the shooting.

The pregnant woman was rushed to Harlem Hospital where she and her unborn child are expected to survive, police said and multiple publications reported.

There have been no arrests as of Tuesday morning.
