Robber Pulls Knife On Man In Washington Heights, Police Say

A man was robbed near West 162nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue while walking home at 5 a.m., police say.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A man was attacked while walking home early in the morning in Washington Heights, police said.

The 50-year-old man was walking near West 162nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue at 5 a.m on Wednesday, Nov. 6 when an unknown man approached him and pulled a knife, police said. The robber demanded the man's money and punched him in the face, said police.

A cellphone and $80 in cash were stolen during the robbery, police said.

Police released a photo of the suspect taken on a security camera. Investigators described the robber as a man in his 20s or 30s who was last seen wearing dark clothing.
