UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — Seven uptown organizations were awarded funding this week to help with the sanitation effort in Washington Heights and Inwood at the first town hall meeting hosted by Council Member Carmen De La Rosa.

The town halls are aimed at identifying and discussing the issues most affecting the community, and look to bring together elected officials, city officials, community organizations, and residents to solve problems.

“I am here to govern alongside the community," De La Rosa said. "The best solutions come from those who live with the issues on a daily basis. These town halls allow my constituents to voice their concerns and know they are being taken seriously."
