WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY - Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out in a Washington Heights apartment building Friday afternoon.

The blaze on the second floor of 561 West 180 St. was reported about 3:21 p.m., fire officials told Patch.

12 units and 60 fire and medical personnel responded to the six-story, “non-fireproof” building, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was deemed under control about one hour later.
