Wash Heights Cop Arrested For Choking Ex Near Minor: Police, Report
Officer Simon Alvarez of the 34th Precinct was arrested Tuesday for choking his ex in front of her child, says the NYPD and reports.
UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — An off-duty copy who works in Upper Manhattan was arrested in Brooklyn Tuesday night for choking his ex-girlfriend in front of her child, according to NYPD and reports.
Simon Alvarez, 24, was arrested in Brooklyn's 72nd Precinct at 11:10 p.m. and charged with strangulation and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17-years-old, said authorities.
Alvarez, who the website 50-a reports serves in Manhattan's 34th precinct, also faces menacing, criminal mischief, and harassment charges, police said.

The 34th Precinct covers from West 179th Street to the end of Inwood.
Alvarez arrived in the 34th Precinct in October 2021, after becoming a full time police officer in April 2021, according to 50-a.

The off-duty cop had an argument with his ex while her kid was in the room, 1010 Wins reported.
The NYPD did not have any more information about the case as of Wednesday morning.
