Wash Heights Shooting Victim ID'd, Gunman Sought: NYPD
The gunman in the deadly shooting on St. Nicholas Avenue remains at large Tuesday, police said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY - The man fatally shot following a spat in Washington Heights Sunday night has been identified, authorities said.
Christopher Brooks, 33, of Sugar Hill, was identified as the deceased, police said.
The gunshot was fired Sunday about 11:42 p.m. near the intersection of West 185th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue, police said.

Police found Brooks, 33, with a gunshot wound to the torso at the scene. Medics transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem where he was later pronounced dead.
The gunfire began as a result of a brawl between a scooter rider and a driver who got out of their vehicle, ABC7 reported. A passenger of the car pulled out a gun and shot the victim, the outlet said.

There were no arrests made as of Monday morning. The investigation remains ongoing.
As of Monday, New York City has 744 reported shooting incidents so far in 2023, according to city data. That's down about 26.6 percent from the same time the previous year.
In the 34th precinct where the shooting took place, police have seen nine shooting incidents so far in 2023. That’s compared to 17 reported this time last year.
