Grisly new details emerged Sunday after a man was found dead in the backyard of a quiet East Quogue residential community.

EAST QUOGUE, NY — Grisly new details emerged Sunday after a man was found dead in the backyard of a quiet East Quogue residential community.

The East Quogue community of Oakville Estates was cloaked in fear Saturday as police reported a "suspicious death" and homicide squad detectives spent hours at the scene investigating.

Christopher Hahn, 43, of 150 W. Tiana Road in Hampton Bays, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Following an investigation by Suffolk County Police homicide squad detectives, Jeremy Allen, the sole occupant of 9 Oakville Avenue, was arrested at 120 Old Riverhead Road in Hampton Bays Saturday night at 10:40 p.m., police said.

Allen, 43, was charged with second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence, police said.

Newsday reported that at his arraignment, Allen, who pleaded not guilty, stabbed Hahn in the head and neck with a large knife, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Elena Tomaro., who added that his body was found under a tarp by Allen's dog.

Also according to Newsday, Allen has beaten Hahn for hours before hitting him with a baseball bat and stabbing him in front of a camera; the video is "brutal and heinous" she said; Allen then called a handyman to help him clean up but the handyman called police, Newsday said.

The scene was a"bloodbath," according to Tomaro, 27 East reported.

Newsday also said that Allen, who was reported as a friend of Hahn's, may have been acting in self-defense, according to his attorney Colin Astarita.

Astarita could not immediately be reached for comment by Patch.

According to Suffolk County police, Southampton Town Police responded to 9 Oakville Avenue after a man called 911 to report a man was found dead in the rear yard of the residence at 9:52 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Police, who spent hours in the community Saturday, told residents that it was an isolated incident with no cause for concern.

The cause of Hahn's death will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, officials said.

Allen was held overnight at the Southampton Town Police Department and was arraigned at Southampton Town Justice Court on Sunday, police said.
