Supervisor Urges Residents to Use Caution as Storm Approaches

Southampton Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst sent the message via Facebook.

As the East End prepares for another snow storm, which is expected to bring about 10 inches to the area, Southampton Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst issued a notice of caution on her Facebook page.

She wrote, asking residents to limit driving once snow begins to accumulate, "I urge everyone to be cautious and careful. Our highway department crews will continue to do the stellar job they have done in past storms, but their ability to keep our roads safe is enhanced when fewer cars are on the road."

Throne-Holst further issued emergency information, stating that the town's website will be updated with event cancellations and weather conditions.

"This storm also brings the threat of coastal flooding and power outages. Please take all necessary precautions," she said, also asking residents to be prepared with batteries and water.

"If conditions affect your home heating, seek other shelter as soon as possible. We will advise all if any town-wide emergency measures are implemented. Current forecasts do not indicate this need at this time, but we are prepared. Most of all, be safe," she said.
