Good Samaritan University Hospital Opens New 'Mother-Baby' Unit
The space will include 36 private patient rooms for maternity care.

WEST ISLIP, NY — Expecting mothers at Good Samaritan University Hospital will soon receive a more private and higher quality of care.
The Catholic Health hospital announced on Tuesday the opening of its all-new single patient room Mother-Baby Unit. The new space will greatly increase the number of private patient rooms available for Good Samaritan’s more than 3,000 maternity patients each year, a release said.
“The opening of the Mother-Baby Unit is another milestone in Catholic Health’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional care to mothers and their newborns,” said Good Samaritan University Hospital President Ruth E. Hennessey. “The new facilities, available to all maternity patients, match the outstanding compassionate and quality care delivered to our patients.”

“The expansion of the Maternity unit is part of Catholic Health’s system-wide commitment to be
the premier provider of world-class maternal care, most especially for high-risk pregnancies,”
said Dr. John Vullo, DO, Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Good Samaritan University Hospital and Associate Chair of Women’s Health Services for Catholic Health. “The modernization of Mother-Baby at Good Samaritan University Hospital furthers our long tradition of caring for families in the communities we serve.”
