1 Dead In Somers Fire
Fire officials said the man, who was in his 70s, was the only person in the home at the time of the fire.
SOMERS, NY — A man in his 70s died as a result of a home fire Monday in Somers.
The Somers Volunteer Fire Department said personnel and equipment were dispatched around 9:20 a.m. Monday to Barlow Court.
Firefighters arrived at the scene just before 9:30 a.m. and said the fire was showing in the second floor of the two-story wood-frame home.

Officials said firefighters were able to contain the fire to the second floor while the rest of the house was searched.
After the entire fire was knocked down, a search of the remainder of the house found the body of one man, who was in his 70s.

He was the only person in the home at the time of the fire, officials said.
The fire is under investigation by Westchester County Department of Emergency Services Cause & Origin team and the New York State Police.
Fire officials said no firefighters were injured, and the cause has yet to be determined.
