HUDSON VALLEY, NY — 'Tis the season for giving back to your community. There are a number of ways that you and your family can help out through the holidays and help others.

Every day through Christmas, Patch will be highlighting a way you can provide compassion and resources to those in need.

Volunteer New York! makes it easy to find ways to help — through donations, supporting nonprofits and even volunteering from home.

Today’s opportunity is for Guiding Eyes for the Blind Volunteer Puppy Sitters – Westchester County. Guiding Eyes for the Blind is seeking volunteer puppy sitters to help provide short-term relief for puppy raisers once every month or two for around two to 10 days, depending on the need. The volunteers will welcome future guide dog pups-in-training into their homes and provide a safe environment when their raisers need a break or need to be away from home.

There is no cost for the sitter; the pup will come with all necessary supplies from the raiser.
