'Ask Astorino' in Somers; Yorktown District-Wide Band Festival; Firefighter Awards
Here are five things you need to know today, Feb. 26.

1. The Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association Awards
Congratulations to this year's recipients of the The Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association's 2012 President's Awards. Recipients are Commissioner/Deputy Chief James Seymour, 2nd Lieutenant Christopher Gravius, and Firefighter Philip Guglielmini. The award was presented to these men for their role as Chairmen of Mohegan Fire Department's 90th Anniversary which was held in conjunction with the Westchester County Volunteer Firemen's Association's annual convention which was held this past September.
2. District-Wide Band Festival

The Yorktown Centra School District's district-wide band festival is tonight at 6:20 p.m. at the Yorktown High School gymnasium. This is the first-ever event in Yorktown, including students from Crompond, the middle and high schools.
3. 'Ask Astorino' in Somers

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino will host his next “Ask Astorino” town hall meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. at Somers Middle School (use auditorium entrance) at 250 Route 202, Somers. Click here for more details.
4. Yorktown Town Board
Yorktown town board members will meet tonight at 6:45 p.m. for the closed portion of their meeting. The public meeting will resume at 7:30 p.m. For the agenda, click here.
5. Condolences to Family, Friends of Oliver Wells
Oliver Wells, a Yorktown resident, passed away on Feb. 20 at the age of 82. Wells worked for the IBM Watson Research Center for most of his career, and then continued his research at Watson as part of the Emeritus program. He volunteered for at Peekskill Hospital and for the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps for many years. Thanks to Yorktown councilman Vishnu Patel for uploading pictures to this article in memory of Wells.
