Cheerleading Competition Set For Westchester
The 73rd annual Westchester County Cheerleading Invitational includes schools from around the Hudson Valley.
SOMERS, NY — Cheerleaders from high schools and middle schools from Westchester and surrounding counties are set to compete during the 73rd annual Westchester County Cheerleading Invitational.
The competition will be held Saturday at Somers High School in Lincolndale.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer said he applauds the young athletes for their determination and teamwork.

“Cheerleading has long been considered an iconic American activity symbolizing athleticism, school spirit and leadership,” he said.
“Cheerleaders are positive role models for others in our classrooms and communities,” Latimer said.

Competitive cheer squads will be judged on their jumps, tumbling, partner stunts, pyramids/basket tosses, choreography, timing, projection and the difficulty of their routines.

Participating teams and scheduled times are subject to change.
The doors open at 9 a.m.

The Westchester County Cheerleading Invitational is sponsored by Westchester County Parks and Westchester Parks Foundation.
Somers High School is at 120 Primrose St. in Lincolndale.
