The Jefferson Valley Mall is holding its annual Book Blast! event on Saturday and officials are inviting families to participate and be inspired to read together at home and beyond.
During the event on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. will feature a variety of book-based activities, including a read-aloud session that is presented by Teach to Learn Foundation.
In addition, origami expert Kyoko Hada will teach children the ancient art of Japanese paper folding.

Children also are invited to bring a new or gently used book to the event to be donated to Family Services of Westchester, an organization that is further fostering the importance of reading within the community.
"Simon Kidgits Club continuously aims to provide children enjoyable, easily accessible educational opportunities that incorporate some fun. Book Blast! does just that,” said Lauren Penchina, director of marketing and business development for Jefferson Valley Mall. “Events will motivate families to read, learn and be entertained in a familiar environment that’s close to home."
