Yorktown Patch was launched on May 28, 2010.
Our goal is if it matters to Yorktown, it's on Yorktown Patch. We cover everything from local government, schools, police issues to arts and entertainment.
We have covered a variety of stories, like incredible service programs, a business story about Costco's plans of coming into town, a massive police search for a man, which resulted in a school going into lockout mode, circus coverage, the suicide of a Lakeland graduate and army private, and her funeral; the family for a White Plains police officer, who died on duty, held his wake and funeral services in town; the arraignment of a male and woman accused of raping a 15-year-old girl; a dog died in a 140-degree van on a hot summer day. We also covered community events that matter to you like Relay for Life. On our site you can find stories about sports, theatre productions, improvements to the senior center, fundraisers, political races; you can meet other members of the community, and read restaurant reviews.
People care about what's going on in their communities and that's why this hyper-local community journalism is so important.
