Here is an overview of the big news in Yorktown this past week:
We had oue student writer break down the college admission process. A dean of admissions at George Mason University advised that what's more important is what you do with your life and not what college you get accepted to. Brendan Tully, NYS Assembly seat candidate, called the budget system outdated and asked for proven results. The Justin Veatch Fund accepted applications for their first annual two-day music workshop in memory of son Justin, who died in his sleep of an overdose at age 17.
Tuesday, August 17Patch celebrated a big milestone- the launch of the 100th site. In baseball, read about Shrub Oak winning the 18-and-under Westchester Putnam Baseball Association championship game. A Yorkown teen died Sunday early morning after slipping and falling off the old railroad bridge and into the water of the Croton Reservoir. A 13-year-old girl and 9-year old boy were not taken away by child protective services after police found the girl in an "uninhabitable" house.
