Monday, August 2

We had an update on the two girls who got stabbed by their aunt in Katonah. Our student writer had an update on AP English students tackling the summer reading. The Yorktown assistant diving coach is also a big Yankees fan who works as a research assistant for the YES Network. Read the story here.

Tuesday, August 3

Read about NYS Assembly seat candidate Brendan Tully here. Former boxer Peter Wood talked about his experience at a yoga class and reminisced about his fighting days. Police arrested a woman who stole jewelry while doing a real estate appraisal.

Wednesday, August 4

The girls' field hockey team lost to the John Jay team, but did not go down without a fight. Proposed laws could expand DNA collection to anyone convicted of a misdemeanor -- and some lawmakers want to take it further, requiring DNA collection for arrests, not just convictions. Guiding Eyes for the Blind is in the race to win a $250,000 grant from PepsiCo, which is based on the public's vote. Read the story here.

Thursday, August 5

The town board announced at their meeting that the Yorktown Stage would not be closed and the winery lawsuit was dismissed. Men's softball Finnegan's team prevail 8-7 over Murphy's. State assembly seat candidate Steve Katz announced fiscal emergency and laid out a 9-point plan to restore fiscal responsibility. Full coverage was restored at Stellaris medical centers. The aunt accused of stabbing her two nieces appeared in court and we had the story with pictures.

Friday, August 6

Shrub Oak played in the 16-and-under Westchester Putnam Baseball Association, but lost to Sleepy Hollow. Artist Elissa SooJin Schilmeister debuted her photography exhibit at Teatown Lake Reservation. Read the police blotter about a realtor arrested for jewelry theft, youths who punched a male in the face, and an uninhabitable residence. We also had a letter to the editor from State Senate candidate Greg Ball.

Saturday, August 7

We had a round up of how the girls field hockey team did at the Empire State Games. The Mohegan Colony Association is trying to save historic Lake Mohegan. Read the story and see the video here.
