Welcome to "Five Things you Need to Know Today," a new Patch column where we give the readers essential information at a glance. Let us know what you think of the new feature in the comments below.
1. The Shrub Oak Book Group meets meets today at noon to read People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. This group will be reading the same titles as the evening group and will be led by Library Director, Patricia Barresi. Books are available at the Circulation Desk, one month before the discussion, just ask for the Shrub Oak Book Group selection.
2. The Beatles Music and Trivia Night will be held at the Holiday Inn in Mt. Kisco from 7:30 p.m.- 9 p.m. The fun-filled evening will be hosted by Michael DeJoseph, a life-long Beatles expert with knowledge of The Beatles music, their lives and careers. The event is free and open to all.

3. The Lakeland School District is holding an art exhibit- Gallery One Staff Art Exhibition Opening Reception today at the Administration Building from 5-7 p.m.
4. It's back to school night at the Mildred E. Strang Middle School today. Students in sixth grade celebrate Back to School Night from 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. and grades 7 and 8 celebrate Back to School Night 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

5. It's Breast Cancer National Toll-free Telephone Support Group, where women who were recently diagnosed or are in treatment can call for support regardless of where they live. It is held the first Wednesday of each month at 8 p.m. (New York time). It is led by two trained facilitators who are breast cancer survivors. It is free to call, but registration is encouraged.
