Garden Talk in Shrub Oak; Snow Expected; Beauty and the Beast Show; Somers Petition

Here are five things you need to know today, March 6.

1. Garden Talk – Romancing the Garden

The talk at the John C. Hart Memorial Library on March 6 at 7 p.m. is sponsored by the Garden Club of Yorktown. Jan Johnsen of Johnsen Landscapes & Pools, a well etablished woman as a as an innovative landscape designer, will be the speaker. She has been in the profession for more than 35 years. She teaches at Columbia University and the New York Botanical Garden. The event is open to the public, no registration is needed.

2. Somers Asks Residents to Sign Petition Against Release of Convicted Murderer

4. Logo Contest for Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park

The Friends of Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park are running a logo contest and giving an opportunity to people, ages 18 and over, to participate. The name of the winning designer and the logo will be presented publicly at the FDR State Park "I Love My Park Day." Read more details here.

5. Snow Expected Tonight

The National Weather Forecast is predicting snow on Wednesday. There is a slight chance of snow (60 percent) before 10 a.m., then rain. Forecasters said it's expected to start snowing again Wednesday night and accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is possible.
