Grant to Yorktown Seniors; Black History Month Presentation; Lakeland BOE Meeting
Here are five things you need to know today, Feb. 21.

1. $2,000 Grant to Yorktown Seniors
Yorktown seniors are benefiting from a recent $2,000 grant donation by the Yorktown Elks Club. On Tuesday, club members served dinner to the Yorktown seniors. Click here for pictures and more information on what services seniors will benefit from.
2. Black History Month Presentation

The Yorktown Historical Society is presenting “WWI--Harlem 369th (Black) Regiment" on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the John C. Hart Memorial Library. The presentation is given by Peter Nelson, an adjunct professor with Fairfield University and author of over 25 books and numerous articles in national magazines.
The event is open to the public and no registration is needed.

3. Lakeland BOE Meeting Tonight
The Board of Education will hold its regular business meeting on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, 3477 Kamhi Drive, Yorktown Heights. The meeting is open to the public and there are two opportunities for public comment. Click here for the agenda.
4. Cancer Support Group on Thursdays
Gilda's Club Westchester at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center offers a support group for people who have been newly diagnosed with cancer on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Cancer Center at 1978 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor.
5. Slight Chance of Snow Showers
There is a slight chance of snow showers before 11 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. It is expected to be cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 33. The chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
