Hilltop Hanover Farm in Yorktown Open for School Groups
School groups can learn sustainable agriculture firsthand by learning farming methods and other environmental approaches.

From the Westchester County Government:
Children of all ages can have fun as they learn about life on a working farm, from hands-on organic gardening to learning about animal care, during programs offered for school and scout groups at Hilltop Hanover Farm and Environmental Center in Yorktown Heights, County Executive Robert P. Astorino has announced.
School groups can learn sustainable agriculture firsthand by learning about the farm’s farming methods and other environmental approaches for cultivating the land and protecting the environment. Students will learn about the seasonality of vegetable production, meet farmers and see how life operates on a working farm in real-time. All programs support the New York State STEM and Core curriculum and can be tailored to students’ needs. Programs are available from prekindergarten to high school and college. Fees range from $10 to $18 per student, depending on age and program choice.

“The valuable educational component of a class trip at Hilltop Hanover is a home run for students and teachers,” Astorino said. “And as a bonus, a day at the farm is a lot of fun.”
Additionally, the farm offers in-school programs during which a farmer and a farm educator will visit a class, a grade or the entire school. These programs can also be tailored to the needs of the students or the curriculum. The fee for in-school visits starts at $500.
