Knights of Columbus Treat Yorktown Seniors to Lunch [Photos]
The entire event, which cost $700, was paid for by Fr. John LaFarge #4012 Knights of Columbus of Yorktown Heights.
Yorktown senior citizens enjoyed hot meals, desserts and entertainment during the 20th annual luncheon on Wednesday, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus members, at the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center.
The luncheon, which was originally given around Thanksgiving, eventually became a St. Patrick's Day celebration because seniors had expressed that "no one gave them a party in the winter months," Knights of Columbus Community Chair Richard De Silva said.
Nutrition center staff members cooked the meals, which were paid for by the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic men's benefit society.
