Mahopac Man Accused Of Stealing $160,000

Police said he was arrested while in custody in Carmel on an unrelated charge.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Mahopac man was accused of stealing thousands of dollars from someone.

The Yorktown Police Department said Anthony Savino, 36, of Mahopac, was charged Monday with second-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Police said, shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday, officers took a walk-in report of a past larceny.

After the investigation began, Savino was identified as having taken a total of $160,000 from the victim under false pretenses on two occasions.

There were several unsuccessful attempts to contact him, but on Monday, Yorktown police were notified that he was in the custody of Carmel police for an unrelated incident.

Savino was arrested and charged with grand larceny.

He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance to return to the Yorktown Justice Court Tuesday.
