Man Faces Criminal Possession of a Weapon Charge in Yorktown

Police said the 19-year-old Cortlandt Manor man was found in possession of a gravity knife, marijuana and an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.

Possession of Gravity Knife, Marijuana, Open Container of Alcohol

A 19-year-old Cortlandt Manor man is facing several charges after he was found in possession of a gravity knife, marijuana and an open container of alcohol, Yorktown police said.

Police said they stopped his vehicle in the area of Route 6 and Strawberry Road on Feb. 4 after the man made a turn without signaling. A traffic stop revealed his license was suspended. In addition, police found a gravity knife, marijuana and an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. 

The man was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor; third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor; unlawful possession of marijuana, failure to signal, open alcohol in vehicle and uninsured vehicle, all violations.

He was released on $200 bail and scheduled to appear in court on March 5. 

Violating Order of Protection

A 40-year-old Yorktown man was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor. 

Police investigated a domestic incident on Jan. 29 and revealed the man had violated an order of protection by sending several text messages. The man turned himself over to police, processed and released. He was scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 5.
