Medical Examiner: 85-Year-Old Woman in Car Accident Died of Internal Injures

Results from the Westchester Medical Examiner's Office say there were internal injuries and fractures on her body.

An 85-year-old woman died in a car accident last week when she drove her car off Ridge Street and crashed into a tree, police said. The Westchester Medical Examiner's Officer confirmed today the woman had died of internal injuries.

Police believed Liliana Rovedo, of Village Road in the Jefferson Valley Condominiums, may have suffered a medical condition because there was little damage to her car. It might not be known what exactly happened right before her car crashed, police said.

There were no brake marks on the road, indicating she had tried to stop, spokesperson for the department Lt. Kevin Soravilla said. The accident investigation team has not yet determined the speed the woman was traveling at.

Rovedo crashed her car on Dec. 8 at approximately 10:05 a.m. She was critically injured and transported to the Hudson Valley Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The autopsy didn't point to a particular medical condition, but did say the cause of death was crash-related injuries.
