Oliver Wells, Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps Volunteer, Passed Away at 82
Wells worked for the IBM Watson Research Center for most of his career. A memorial reception will be held at the Mohansic Golf Course dining room on Sunday, Feb. 24 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
From Clark Funeral Home: Oliver Wells, a Yorktown resident, passed away on Feb. 20. He was 82.
The man was born in London, England in 1931. He studied at Cambridge, receiving his doctorate in electrical engineering, building one of the first electron microscopes. During this time he was also a pioneering cave diver.
Wells worked for the IBM Watson Research Center for most of his career, and then continued his research at Watson as part of the Emeritus program. He volunteered for at Peekskill Hospital and for the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps for many years. As a part time ski instructor at Hunter Mountain, he introduced his children to a lifelong enjoyment of skiing.

He is survived by his wife Pamela, his children John, James, and Julia, and three grandchildren.
