Peekskill Man Arrested For DWI After Ignoring Traffic Cop: Police

Yorktown police said the man had a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or higher.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill man was accused of drunken driving after failing to comply with a police officer who was directing traffic.

The Yorktown Police Department said Brian R. Lehning, 23, of Peekskill, was stopped shortly after 3 a.m. Jan. 19 after he didn’t obey a police officer who was directing traffic for a vehicle fire.

Lehning was found by the officer to be intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.

He was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Lehning was charged with driving while intoxicated with blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or higher, driving while intoxicated, first offense, and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, misdemeanors, and failure to obey a police officer, a traffic infraction.

He was issued traffic tickets and released on his own recognizance to a responsible adult.

Lehning is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Feb. 2.
