Police Blotter: A Realtor Arrested for Jewelry Theft, Youths Punch a Male in the Face, Uninhabitable Residence
A round up of police activity from June 30- August 5: harassments, unlicensed drivers, animal complaints, stolen diamond rings, laptop, IPod, bikes and cigarettes, loud neighbors, and a man locks himself out in his underwear.

Friday, July 30
1:16 a.m. Police received a domestic incident report from a Fox Meadow Road that the person was receiving harassing messages from a female.
2:09 a.m.- 2:13 a.m. Police arrested Nicholas P. Guzzo, 21, of Yorktown, and charged him with obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors; and disorderly conduct, a violation. They also arrested David A. Brown III, 21, of Cortlandt Manor, and charged him with obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct. Police received an anonymous call about an altercation outside of Murphy's Bar on July 30 at 1:49 a.m. Officers Kenneth Sgroi, Matthew Iacona, and Ryan Noone responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. Both men were processed at police headquarters. They were released to friends after posting $100 bail. Guzzo and Brown III are due in court on August 31.

8:40 a.m. A Barger Street resident reported that his mother-in-law hit him. Officers Nadoraski, Dipietranto and Vicinanza responded.
2:13 p.m. A Briarcliff Street resident reported being harassed via the Internet. Officer Tommy Nadoraski responded to the scene.

5:36 p.m. Police responded to a call from an area resident, between Route 6 and Barger Street, that female subject is unable to drive due to a medical issue or intoxicated condition. The woman was in fact intoxicated, but she was the passenger as her mother was driving.
Saturday, July 315:05 a.m. Police received a domestic incident call for assistance from a Fenimore Avenue. The resident reported 20-year-old son was "freaking out" and holding a knife in his hand. The caller was able to get it away. The son was transported to the Northern Westchester Hospital psychiatric unit.
9:46 a.m. Police received a report from Jefferson Valley Mall, 650 Lee Blvd, that a possibly intoxicated subject was escorted out of the mall. All was in order.
3:05 p.m. Police arrested a 16-year-old female Yorktown resident, whose name is being withheld due to possible youthful offender status, and charged her with second-degree violation of harassment. Police responded to a domestic incident at a Yorktown residence. Officers Swart and Sansone, and Detective Perrotto were assigned to investigate. The female victim alleged the 16-year-old chest bumped and elbowed her in the stomach. The suspect was remanded to the Westchester County jail in lieu of $250 cash bail. She is due in court on August 10.
7:44 p.m. Police received a call that youths were building fire in the woods. Police reported a small campfire in the woods. The fire department was requested.
Sunday, August 11:59 p.m. Police arrested Mark Benadini, 54, of Somers. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and passing over double yellow line, a traffic infraction. Sgt. Getner stopped his vehicle at 1:15 p.m. on Route 202 for passing a yellow line. A routine DMV check showed that Benadini was allegedly operating the vehicle with a suspended license. The suspect was placed under arrest, processed and released on $100 cash bail. He is due in court on September 2.
5:44 p.m. Police received a report that a mulch pile was burning at the Yorktown Sewer Treatment Plant. The Yorktown Fire Department arrived on the scene with the sewer department personnel, and there was no need for police response.
10:34 p.m. Police received a call that an unknown vehicle was parked outside her neighbor's residence at Jefferson Court for the past 40 minutes, and her neighbor was away. Upon police arrival, no one was found.
Monday, August 22 a.m. Police received a report that a dumpster in the Underhill Plaza, 1849 Commerce St, was on fire. The fire department was notified and took care of it.
2:07 a.m. Police received from a male resident that his 2002 Dodge caravan was missing from the Panera Bread parking lot in the Triangle Shopping Center.
10:40 a.m. Police arrested Barak J. Stevenson, 20, of the Bronx, and a 17-year-old male resident, whose name is withheld due to his eligibility for youthful status offender, and charged them with third-degree assaults, a misdemeanor. On August 1 at 12:40 p.m. police received a call from the staff at the Phoenix Academy who reported a past assault. Officer Stephen Bobker was dispatched to the scene and conducted an investigation, which revealed that on July 31 at approximately 3:30 p.m. the suspects repeatedly punched a resident of Phoenix Academy in the face, causing lacerations and swelling to the face. After the two males were arrested, they were arraigned and served orders of protection. They are due in court on August 17.
1:15 p.m. Police arrested Melanie A. Alvarez, 54, of Pleasantville, and charged her with third-degree grand larceny, a felony. She was arrested at the Pleasantville Police Department where she was interviewed in reference to an unrelated incident. On May 28, it is alleged that Alvarez stole jewelry valued at $14,500 from a Juniper Drive residency while conducting a real estate appraisal. Allegedly, among the jewelry she stole was a diamond ring valued at $8,500, which she admitted to taking and returned the same day, police said. She was remanded to the Westchester County jail after she did not post $1,000 bail and appeared in court on August 3.
3:25 p.m. Police responded to a call from a New Chalet resident that his two bicycles were stolen off the back porch. The resident went on vacation without locking the bikes, and after he returned they were gone.
4:41 p.m. Police received a missing person call. A Tulip Drive resident reported that her husband, 83, was missing, and that he was suicidal. She had dropped him off at the Mall around 1 p.m. and he had not returned home. He is a black male, 5'5''155 pounds, wearing beige pants and a blue jacket. The mall security was advised. The returned home on his own.
4:45 p.m. Police received a report that a child was asleep in a locked car with the windows closed outside the John C. Hart Memorial Library, 1130 East Main St. Upon police arrival, the car was gone.
Tuesday, August 36:18 a.m. A possible sick raccoon was reported to police at the Gazebo behind the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center. The raccoon was fine and ran off into the woods. There was no police action taken.
7:34 a.m. Police received a report of a large raccoon in the dumpster at the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center. Put wood giving the raccoon opportunity to exit not injured.
7:49 a.m. A resident reported multiple mailboxes damaged in the area of Underhill Avenue. The person who reported it was not home to be interviewed when police arrived.
8:15 a.m. A Chadeayne Road resident reported criminal mischief to a mailbox.
1:07 p.m. An Underhill Avenue resident reported the mailbox and post were missing. Police said the Underhill Avenue incidents were likely related.
4:50 p.m. Police received a report from Valley Market, 400 East Main Street, that somebody stole a pack of Newport cigarettes on August 2 at approximately 2:30 p.m. and they have it on video. The suspect reportedly went up to the cash registers carrying merchandise. When he asked for the cigarettes behind the counter, the clerk gave them to him, which he then put in his pocket. As the clerk totaled up the bill, the man said he forgot his wallet in the car and said he would go get it. But he never returned. The suspect is described as a bald male between 20 and 30 years old.
10:27 p.m. Police arrested Louis Murray, 25, of Cortlandt Manor, and charged him with aggravated unlicensed operation and suspended registration, both misdemeanors; and uninsured motor vehicle and failure to notify DMV of address change, both traffic infractions. While on patrol on Route 202, officer Madaus was using the ELSAG license plate reader, when it "hit" on the suspect's license plates it read that they were suspended. Officer Madaus stopped the vehicle, and after a DMV check, it was alleged that the license plates were suspended for insurance lapse and drivers' license for failure to answer summons. In addition, the suspect could no provide proof of insurance and did not notify DMV of his change of address. Murray was released on $100 cash bail and is due in court on September 2.
Wednesday, August 412:17 a.m. Police responded to a noise complaint at a Loder Street residency. Officers Paul Grieve and Matthew Iacona responded to the scene and reported there was an adult gathering. The parties were issued a verbal warning.
12:31 a.m. Police responded to another noise complaint at an Andrea Road residency. The report was of youths yelling and screaming. Officers Kenneth Sgroi and Angel Garcia responded to the scene and reported an adult gathering. They were issued a verbal warning.
1:08 p.m. A Crawford Road resident brought a bat to the Yorktown Police Department for testing. The Westchester County Department of Health was notified.
3:59 p.m. Police responded to a suspicious incident call. A resident reported that a person was standing on the side of the road with a long gun. The residence was located between 202 and Amazon Road next to a house for sale. The subject was gone upon police arrival.
6:05 p.m. Police received a report from a Hunterbrook Road resident that a nail was placed "strategically" in front of his lawn mower tire, so that it would be punctured when he drove it. The tire was punctured indeed.
7:31 p.m. Police received a report from Panera Bread, in the Triangle Shopping Center, that a laptop was stolen. The 33-year-old male, Yorktown resident, went outside to smoke a cigarette and left his laptop unattended. When he returned, it was gone.
7:35 p.m. Police arrested Michael Gomes, 21, of Yorktown and charged him with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. Allegedly he stole an Ipod, valued at $300, from a victim while in the victim's vehicle. Officer Doerr was assigned to investigate and arrested Gomes at his residency. Gomes was released on $250 bail and appeared in court on August 5.
7:55 p.m. Police arrested Jonathan Tozzo, 20, of Yorktown, as a fugitive from justice, a violation of the criminal procedure law. Police began an investigation that initiated from the New Castle County Sheriff's office in Delaware. According to NCCSO, investigators filed a warrant because Jonathan Tozzo broke into a residence in Newark, Delaware on July 31. They forwarded the warrant to the YPD and on August 4, Tozzo surrendered to Detective Shanahan at the Yorktown police headquarters where he was arrested and processed. He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail. He was due in court on August 5 at 10 a.m.
Thursday, August 54:34 a.m. Greenburgh police requested to notify the parents of a Parkway Place resident regarding their daughter's arrest.
8:27 a.m. A Longhill Drive resident, in Jefferson Village, reported to police he had locked himself out on deck. He was making breakfast in his underwear. The man was assisted by Lake Mohegan Fire Department.
10:09 a.m. Police received a report that a subject had experienced difficulty breathing due to a bee sting on the North County Trailway near the intersection of Rodeo Drive. The subject experienced a possible allergic reaction and was transported to the Hudson Valley Hospital via the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps (YVAC).
10:54 a.m. Police responded to a 911 hang-up call. Upon arrival, they observed an uninhabitable residency for children. There was garbage and no running water. The child protector services were notified.
9:32 p.m. Police arrested Patrick J. Callaghan, 45, of Yorktown Heights, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, a felony. Police were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on Underhill Avenue and when the suspect was stopped, police detected signs he had been consuming alcohol. Callaghan was arrested and released after posting $500 bail. He is due in court on September 7.
10:20 p.m. Police arrested Nicholas Ricapito, 24, of Peekskill, and charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. While conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on Underhill Avenue, the defendant was stopped and police detected signs of marijuana within the vehicle. Racapito was arrested and released without bail. He is due in court on September 7.
