Police Blotter: Indecent Exposure, Towing Truck Accident, Many Drunk Drivers

Here is a round up of police activity from August 27- September 2: drunk drivers, teens try to steal a motorcycle, identity theft, man exposes himself to a female, unusual threats, stealing employees, towing truck in need of towing.

"Erratic" Drunk Driver

Police arrested Kathleen Donnelly, 59, of Yorktown, and charged her with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated, both misdemeanors, on August 27 at 7:17 p.m. Officers Sansone and Nicholson were dispatched to the area of Route 6 and Lee Boulevard for an "erratic" operation. Donnelly was processed at police headquarters and released to a third party. She is due in court on September 28.

Man Drives Drunk With Five Kids

A 44-year-old Bronx man faces five separate felony drunken driving charges after police found him in FDR Park in Yorktown intoxicated with five children ages 4 to 15 as passengers in his Hyundai — and one of the younger children unrestrained by a seatbelt. Roberto Diaz, 44, of Edgewater Park told police he was playing softball and had consumed 12 beers over the course of six and half hours. His blood alcohol level was .11 percent, NYS Park Police said, over the state's legal limit of .08 percent. He was held at the Westchester County Jail after not being able to post the $30,000 bail.

Alcohol Causes a Rollover Accident

Police arrested Herbert Ward, 35, of Peekskill, for driving drunk on August 28 at 11:11 p.m. Officers responded to a rollover accident at Hanover Street. Ward is charged with driving while intoxicated, and having a BAC of .08 percent or more and aggravated unlicensed operation, all misdemeanors. In addition he is charged with failure to maintain lane and failure to stay to the right, both traffic infractions. He was released on his own recognizance to a family member and is due in court on September 30.

Fleeing Teens

Police arrested a 15-year-old Queens resident and a 15-year-old Bronx resident, both of whom are charged with juvenile delinquency after attempting to steal a motorcycle on August 28 at 2:10 p.m. The underlying charge if committed by an adult would be petit larceny. Their names are withheld due to their eligibility for youthful status offender.

A Lookout Street resident reported seeing two people stealing a motorcycle from his garage, who fled after being confronted. Officer Donald Peters was assigned and located the subjects nearby. The two boys were transported to police and released on their own recognizance to a guardian. They are due in Westchester County Department of probation Juvenile Court on September 16.

Identity Theft in Spain

A Heathercrest Drive resident reported that someone had used her debit card and made a transaction originating in Spain for $749.16. Her bank cancelled the charge. The Yorktown Police Department has no jurisdiction over the theft.

Man in Trouble for Driving Drunk

On August 29 at 4:06 a.m. police arrested Peter Cursio, 61, of Jefferson Valley. He is charged with driving while intoxicated, a felony; aggravated DWI with a BAC of 0.08 percent or more, a felony; bail jumping in the third degree, a misdemeanor; leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident, a traffic infraction; failure to maintain lane, a traffic infraction. Police had received a report at 3:32 a.m. that a car had run off the roadway on Lee Boulevard. Cursio had been convicted of driving while intoxicated with the past 10 years.

Indecent Exposure

Police arrested Thomas Delaney, 40, of Mohegan Lake, for exposing his private parts to a female employee at Tropical Fantasy, located at 1887 East Main St. on August 29 at 1:15 p.m. He was located walking through the parking lot and positively identified by the victim. Delaney is charged wit public lewdness, a misdemeanor. He was due in court on September 2.

Almost Stabbed with a Screwdriver

August 30 at 1:20 a.m. Police arrested Doreen Reiss, 40, of Mohegan Lake, after she allegedly attempted to stab a male victim with a screwdriver, damaged property within the residence and threatened the male with a kitchen knife. Reiss is charged with second degree attempted assault, a felony; second degree menacing, a misdemeanor; and fifth degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. She was processed and remanded to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $25,000. She appeared in town court on August 31.

The Chainsaw Threat

Police arrested Patrick J. Curran, 47, of Yorktown, after he allegedly threatened a female victim with a circular saw. He was processed at police headquarters and charged with menacing and reckless endangerment, both misdemeanors. Curran appeared in town court on August 31.

Towing Truck in Trouble

Police received a report about a heavy-duty truck accident. The tow truck was pulling a garbage truck when it lost control of the vehicle when driving down Wood Street in Jefferson Valley. The driver sustained back, neck and leg injuries, but had no broken bones.

Stolen Cigarettes and Eyewear

Police received a report of past larcenies by three employees of the A Plus Mini Market, 3650 Lee Boulevard. Allegedly they stole $559.42 worth of nine cartons of cigarettes over a three-week period, and made eight charge backs of 20 pairs of sunglasses for $336.01 in total. The case is still under investigation.

Employee Gets Caught Stealing

Police arrested Thomas Plant, 21, of Yorktown, after he stole $150 from the cash register at Sears, 600 Lee Blvd. while working there. He was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. He is due in court on Sept. 30. 

Unlicensed Operation

Rafael D. Suarez, 24, of Yonkers, was arrested after Officer Bobker was on patrol on Route 6 and saw the man wasn't wearing his seat belt on September 2. A computer check determined Suarez's NYS driver's license was allegedly suspended. After he was issued traffic summons, he was released on $100 bail. He is due in court on October 5. 

DOmestic Dispute

On September 2, police arrested Jesse A. Suggs, 25, of Mahopac. On August 27 police investigated a noise complaint, and after an investigation they revealed a domestic dispute at a Viewland Drive residence between a male and a female. Suggs was at the residence in violation of an order of protection. He is charged with second degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor; and turned over to Peekskill Police Department on a bench warrant.
