Suspended Registration Over Unpaid Parking Tickets

Police arrested Vernell A. Jordan, 32, from Peekskill and charged him with suspended registration, a misdemeanor. On Feb. 3 at 10:35 a.m. officer Sgroi was patrolling the area of Rt. 6 when an ELSAG plate reader detected that the vehicle, which had a suspended registration. It was allegedly suspended because Jordan had unpaid parking tickets. He was processed at police headquarters and released on $100 bail. He is due in court on March 3.

Stolen Pocketbook

Police received a report that a pocketbook was stolen from a woman’s unlocked and unattended vehicle parked in the New City Diner lot, 3825 Crompond Rd., on Feb. 1. No one has found it or returned it, police said.

Police arrested Gelosh Lekocevic, 64, from Putnam Valley for petit larceny and reckless endangerment, misdemeanors. On Feb. 4 at 10:20 a.m. officers were called to Turco’s on a report of a physical dispute possibly stemming from a larceny. Allegedly Lekocevic left the store without paying for an item. Allegedly he stole bottle of Mylanta, an over the counter medication for upset stomach, police said. When he was confronted by an employee in the parking lot, he dropped the item, backed his vehicle into the employee who was trying to take down his license plate number, and fled the scene. The man voluntarily appeared at police headquarters later that day. He was issued an order of protection against the victim and was released on his own recognizance. He is due in court on Feb. 15. 

Suspended Registration

Police arrested Williams N. Godinho, 28, from Cortlandt Manor, for having a suspended registration, a misdemeanor. On Feb. 4 police mobile plate reader identified that his vehicle, traveling on Crompond Road, allegedly had a suspended registration. Godinho was processed at police headquarters and released on $100 bail. He is due in court on March 8.

Teen Arrested for Suspended Registration and Uninsured Vehicle

Police arrested an 18-year-old Purdys male and charged him with suspended registration, uninsured motor vehicle and no license plate light. On Feb. 4 at 9:17 p.m. police officer Garcia was on patrol on Route 6 when he saw a black Hyundai traveling east bound with an inoperable rear license plate light. He stopped the vehicle and a computer check revealed the teen’s car registration was suspended due to insurance lapse. He was processed and released on $100 bail and is due in court on March 8.

Child Locked In Car 

On Feb. 4 at 6:31 a.m. police received a call from a parent asking for help with a child locked in a car on East Main Street. The parent put the child in the car and the doors got locked with the vehicle still running. Yorktown Auto Body was dispatched and the condition was corrected. 

Parking Issue: Cars vs. Snow

On Feb. 4 at 9:24 a.m. police received a report about a parking issue with vehicles parked on both sides of the roadway causing a hazardous condition due to snowbanks narrowing the roadway. The cars were parked in the area of Solaris Sports Club, 201 Veterans Rd. The cars were removed and the Highway Department was called to plow the snow, police said. 

Teen Attempts to Steal Alcohol Beverages

Police arrested an 18-year-old female from Yorktown and charged her with attempted petit larceny on Feb. 4. The teen, whose name police did not release, allegedly placed several alcohol beverages (valued at $9.79) in her backpack attempting to leave the A&P Supermarket in Shrub Oak without paying for them. She is due in court on March 8. 

Dad Arrested For Being in the House While Daughter Had a Party

Police arrested Richard J. Lonergan, 51, from Yorktown and charged him with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor at a residence, a Westchester County social law violation. On Feb. 5 at 10:25 p.m. a Saw Mill River Road resident reported to police that a possible underage drinking party was going on in the area. Officers Swart and Kolkmann were dispatched to the scene and revealed that the man had allowed several people under the age of 21 to consume alcohol while he was present at the residence. His daughter had invited her friends over. Lonergan is due in court on Feb. 24. 

Wild Fusion Fight

On Feb. 5 at 2:28 a.m. police were called to Wild Fusion, 1922 East Main St., on a disorderly conduct. Police arrested Suzanna S. Miller, 20, of New Paltz, NY and charged her with two counts of third-degree attempted assault, misdemeanor. Allegedly Miller attempted to assault two patrons at the restaurant by punching one and throwing a bottle at another, police said. Officers Garcia, Fister and Grieve were dispatched and requested an ambulance for hand laceration. One female was transported to police headquarters and placed under arrest. She is due in court on March 1. 

 Icy Road Conditions on Feb. 5

10:23 a.m. A car slid off the roadway into a snow embankment at Ridge Street.

10:25 a.m. Numerous reports were received at police headquarters about icy road conditions throughout town. Eric DiBartolo, Highway Superintendent Supervisor, was notified.

10:42 a.m. Rollover accident on Taconic State Parkway northbound, just north of Rt. 202.

11:16 a.m. Police received reports that a female was walking down the center of Lexington Avenue and the passing vehicles were concerned for her safety due to the road conditions.

11:40 a.m. County Control called police to advise them to have the Yorktown Highway Department salt all the roads. 

Teen Makes Unreasonable Noise and Screams Obscenities

Police arrested a 16-year-old Verplanck male resident and charged him with disorderly conduct, a violation. On Feb. 5 police received a report of a disturbance in the parking lot of the Ceola Manor Hall. Allegedly the teen was making unreasonable noise and screaming obscenities and threats, which caused public inconvenience, annoyance and alarm, police said. The teen is due in court on March 8. 

Dog Found

On Feb. 6 at 4:44 p.m. police received a call that a small tan dog, approximately 5-10 lbs., was found in the area of Estates Drive. There were no specific markings or collars on the dog. Officer Scatola was assigned to the case. Police advised the man to transport the dog to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). 

Hazardous Potholes

Police received a report of two large hazardous potholes on Rt. 202, in the area of Crompond Road and Elizabeth Road on Feb. 7 at 12:49 a.m. The New York State Department of Transportation was notified and officials arrived to fill the holes.  

Shoplifting Mother of Two

Police arrested Sonia M. Aguilar, 30, from Mohegan Lake, and charged her with petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors. On Feb 8. at 6:39 p.m. police received a call from a Sears security guard reporting a shoplifter in custody. Investigation revealed the woman left the store without paying for merchandise valued at $164.95. Her two children, ages 1 and 4, were with the woman at the time, police said. She was released on $100 bail and is due in court on March 10. 

"Coyote" Look-A-Like Dog Reunited With Owner

On Feb. 9 at 8:02 a.m. an Eastern Circle resident reported to police that a coyote in the backyard was “acting strange.” Animal control officer James Waterhouse reported that it was a loose dog-- small brown with a blue collar Akita looking dog. He picked up the dog, which was reunited with its owner.

Intoxicated Woman Refused Service

On Feb. 9 at 6:03 p.m. Campagna Pizzeria Restaurant, 1410 East Main St., reported to police that an intoxicated female gave them a hard time because they wouldn’t serve her wine. The woman was lying on the bench inside and when she attempted to get up, she fell down. Restaurant staff members were concerned for her driving and she had refused to give up her keys. The 48-year-old woman was transported to the Hudson Valley Hospital Center, police said. 

Stolen Cigarette

A Plus Mini Market employee reported to police that just five minutes prior to his call a white male had opened a pack of cigarettes, gotten one out and fled the area in a Hyundai Genisis, unknown plate number. The person was wearing a pea coat. The incident occurred on Feb. 9 at 3:41 a.m.
