Police Blotter: Yorktown Murder Mystery
Police activity for the week of Sept. 10 to Sept. 16, including teen thieves, targeted man was shot to death, attempted assault, teenagers violating town code by hanging out in the dark after hours.

Murder Mystery
Police received a report that a man had been killed at his house at 3210 Poplar St. at approximately 1 p.m. Sept. 15. The body of 43-year-old Piotr Seweryn was found in the basement by his wife after she came home from work. Officers Dipietranto, Pavletich, Dillon, Iacona, and Deiulio responded. Police are still investigating the homicide, and assured residents the man was targeted and the murder was not a random act of violence.
LoiteringPolice arrested a 17 year-old female and a 16-year-old male, both Yorktown residents for being in a parked vehicle in the Sparkle Lake Park parking lot in a violation of town code on September 10 at approximately 1:40 a.m. They are due in court on October 5. Police did not release their names because of their eligibility for youthful offer status.

Two female Yorktown residents, ages 16 and 18, were arrested on September 13 at 10:50 a.m. after Chestnut Shell on Commerce Street reported a past larceny and investigation revealed the teens had left the store without paying for beverages worth $10. The incident occurred on September 10 at 7:51 p.m. They are both due in court on October 12. Police did not release their names because of their eligibility for youthful offer status.
The owner discovered the incident after an inventory check, and a security camera confirmed the theft.

Police arrested an 18-year-old female Yorktown resident and charger her with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. The teen allegedly stole $10 worth of candy from the Chestnut Shell on Commerce Street on October 11, at 12:26 a.m.
In addition, it is alleged the teen stole $15 worth of merchandize from the same place that same night at approximately 1:30 a.m., as well as beverages on September 10 as the above entry states.
She is due to re-appear at town court on October 12.
Attempted AssaultPolice arrested Louis J. Mauro, 58, of Shrub Oak, after he allegedly punched his wife causing a bump on her head and scratches. The incident occurred on September 7 at approximately 5:35 p.m. Mauro voluntarily appeared at police headquarters on September 14, where he was arraigned before Judge Lagonia. He appeared in court on September 16.
Police received a call on September 11 at 6:22 p.m. from a subject reporting stolen item. The responding police officer reported that the wallet has been located.
Police were called in to investigate a criminal mischief to a vehicle at the Grange Fair Grounds.
Loud RestaurantPolice received several reports of loud live music being played outside Augie's Prime Cut Restaurant, on 3436 Lexington Ave. on September 12. Officer Robert Doerr responded and corrected the condition.
Truck Loses a Box of Nails on the RoadPolice received a report from a motorist that a box of nails had fallen from a truck in the area of Saw Mill River Road and Commerce Street on September 13 at 8:36 a.m. As a result the nails were scattered across the roadway posing a hazard. The condition was corrected.
Man Holds Knife to Someone's NeckPolice received a report that a subject on the Taconic State Parkway was holding a knife to someone's neck on September 15 at 11:29 p.m. The New York State Police had the situation under control upon Yorkown police arrival and no action was taken.
